Ms. Raina Ruschmann from "samara – Prevention of Sexual Assault and Violence" was invited from "WAVE – Women against Violence Europe" to Macedonia as a lecturer and expert.
Mr. Stojan Misev, Jurist, and Ms. Aneta Petrusevska, Social worker, from "ESE – Association for Emancipation, Solidarity and Equality of Women in the Republic of Macedonia" held a seminar for Professionals in Ohrid, Macedonia.
This seminar was part of the project: "Prevention and Elimination of Domestic Violence in Macedonia".
In this seminar police men and professionals of government and non government organizations participated.
Ms. Raina Ruschmann talked about "Child Protection and Domestic Violence". She empathized the importance of working with boys, that the "circle of violence" does not continue in the next generation.
Macedonia has 2 million inhabitants and 7 womens shelters. The women's shelters do not offer social work for their clients inside the institution.
Since 2002 Macedonia has a national strategy plan against domestic violence.
The economic situation of Macedonian people is generally very difficult.
Patriarchal views are still common in Macedonia, especially on the country side.
We want to thank Ms. Maria Roesslhumer and Ms. Regina Webhofer from "WAVE" for the invitation and Ms. Aneta Petrusevska and Mr. Stojan Misev for their special hospitality.
